Babies and younger children

More than half of the children currently waiting to be adopted in Lancashire and Blackpool are under 2 years old.

There are so many wonderful milestones to enjoy at this age. From seeing their first smile, helping them learn their first words, to celebrating their first birthday, and helping them take their first steps. It's an exciting time to really bond with your child as you mark their first milestones and watch them grow and develop.

Meet our wonderful adopters

Simon* adopted his one-year-old son Fred*.

He said: "Adopting our one-year-old son Fred has been an incredible and life-changing experience for us as two same-sex male parents. From the very beginning of the adoption process, we felt supported by the service and our social worker, which made the journey smoother and more empowering than we ever imagined.

"Adoption Lancashire and Blackpool advocated for us and Fred ensuring that his best interests were always at the forefront of every decision. When challenges arose, whether logistical or emotional, they were and are always there with support and practical advice. Their guidance gave us the tools we needed to become the best parents possible for Fred, and we’re forever grateful for the role they played in helping us create our family.

"Seeing his joyful smile every day is a constant reminder that we made the right decision to adopt. He has brought a level of happiness and fulfilment into our lives that we never thought possible."
